Permissive action

Action of some hormones are executed only in presence of glucocorticoids. This is called permissive action.
Examples are:

• Calorigenic effect of glucagon.
• Lipolytic effect of catecholamines.
• Pressor effect of catecholamines.
• Bronchodilation by catecholamines.
  • Upregulates α1-receptors on arterioles → ↑ sensitivity to norepinephrine and epinephrine
